Case study: the show must go on

Situation

For the tour of a world-famous entertainer, stage and production equipment had arrived in South Africa from Australia when dockworkers in South Afrika started a strike, refusing to load or unload container ships. On a world tour like this, planning is already extremely tight, with two shows in South Africa followed by immediate shipping of the equipment to Chile and Brazil, for shows within three weeks.

Solution

Since there was no way to load the containers within the required time frame on the scheduled vessel, our local staff had to find alternatives to get the cargo to Chile and Rio in time. We managed to find a smaller port in the north of the country that was left unnoticed by the strikers and we chartered a container ship. Immediately after the South African shows, all containers were trucked to this northern port and loaded onto the ship, before the strikers noticed.

Result

The containers arrived in Santiago de Chile right on time. Our client did not have make any changes, and over 77,000 fans enjoyed the concert in Estadio Nacional de Chile.
